At this year’s Health Ingredients Europe show in Paris the BENEO Group will present a range of innovative new product and research findings. In the twelve months since the leading food ingredients companies Orafti, Palatinit and Remy united to form the Functional Food Group BENEO, their mission of ‘connecting nutrition and health’ has positioned pioneering new BENEO Group ingredients firmly at the centre of many current food trends.
A number of new announcements will be made by the BENEO Group on stand number FO51, from each of the business units and the Group itself.
BENEO Group ingredients are created on a foundation of four ‘building blocks’ upon which balanced, healthy and functional food product solutions are successfully develop. At its HiE stand, the BENEO Group will be sharing the underlying advantages of providing a unified group approach and how these can benefit customers and the marketplace.
• Firstly, BENEO Group products have an optimal composition, being produced from natural ingredients. BENEO-Orafti specialises in Chicory products, BENEO-Palatinit in sugar beet and BENEO-Remy is a world market leader in the production of rice derivatives. These ingredients form a perfect basis to develop functional, sugar-free, fat reduced and fibre enriched food products
• Secondly, taste and texture is key to BENEO Group ingredients which are developed to uniquely optimise taste & stability. Manufacturers and consumers alike have been impressed by the range of crispy, crunchy, smooth and creamy food products.
• The third building block vital to the BENEO Group refers to the relevant nutritional benefits of its ‘wellgredients’ which are utilised within food products that promote weight management (in terms of calorie reduction, fat burning and satiety), digestive health, dental care, bone and cardiovascular health.
• Finally, BENEO-Orafti, BENEO-Palatinit and BENEO-Remy build their innovative ingredients upon an accepted product concept, continuously carrying out rigorous consumer research, monitoring market conditions and regulations and revising the products in line with these studies.
Highlights of the news from the BENEO Group business units are:
• BENEO-Orafti will reveal the findings of its latest research on a.o. UK and US consumer awareness of health and wellness with relation to nutrition. Such research endeavours to discover what marketing terminologies consumers understand and which buying motivations they have in order to further help BENEO-Orafti assist food industry manufacturers to create consumer attractive food concepts.
• BENEO-Palatinit, market leader in the functional carbohydrate market will announce the latest developments for its product Palatinose™, the only known fully digestible carbohydrate which supplies the same amount of energy in the form of glucose as sucrose – but over a longer period of time. As Palatinose™ is toothfriendly and promotes fat oxidation it is particularly attractive for use in sports and energy drinks. Dr Stephan Hausmanns, Head of Product Management at BENEO-Palatinit will give a presentation at the show reviewing the latest results on energy release profiles and metabolism and exploring new concepts with Palatinose™ for optimising nutritional value.
• BENEO-Remy will be unveiling three new additions to its product range, firstly, a new Nutriz concentrate, specially developed as an ingredient for smoothies. Nutriz products have comparable textures to dairy products, allowing food producers to easily produce dairy-free desserts. The company will also launch RemyLiVe, a product composed of the outer brown layer of the rice kernel, thus providing all the nutritional power of rice in a condensed form, an ideal ingredient for healthy whole grain foods. Finally, BENEO-Remy will introduce a new rice starch gel to its range of clean label products, the properties of which include neutral taste, softness and a creamy mouth feel, making it hugely suitable for dairy products.
Yves Servotte, BENEO Group Board Member commends the BENEO Group collaboration and its first year of operation stating: “The ability to draw combined knowledge from BENEO-Orafti, BENEO-Palatinit and BENEO-Remy experiences in durable farming, process and food technology, nutritional science, nutritional marketing and communication, regulatory issues, patent policy and consumer research allows BENEO to regularly bring new “wellgredients” to market and ensure that new and existing ingredients continue to meet ever-changing customer and market needs”.
