DSM has expanded its portfolio of innovative weight management solutions with the launch of Fabuless DE. A new and easy to use, spray-dried powder version of DSM’s highly effective weight management ingredient. Fabuless DE has been developed for instant powder applications, such as soups, meal replacement shakes and beverages.

Fabuless DE enables manufacturers to tap into the thriving weight management market by offering consumers new and exciting concepts for effective weight control.

Delivering all of the benefits of liquid Fabuless in a dry formulation, Fabuless DE contains natural palm and oat oils. This unique formulation has been scientifically proven – in several published clinical trials – to reduce feelings of hunger and help people manage calorie consumption. This results in longer term loss of fat mass and reduced weight regain following dieting. When dispersed in any aqueous liquid, Fabuless DE gives an oil-in-water emulsion.

Emily Tellers, product manager, Fabuless comments: “Satiety continues to dominate consumer trends and Fabuless enjoys a leading position in the global weight management market. Clinically proven efficacy, appealing health claims and the international success of Fabuless make a compelling proposition for manufacturers and consumers alike. With this clear market advantage, our expansion into powder-based concepts looks set to generate significant additional interest.”

“Our consumer research indicates that convenience is a highly influential factor. Not surprisingly, instant foods and drinks are important categories in the area of weight management. Fabuless DE has been developed with this in mind. Manufacturers of instant beverages or soups can easily incorporate Fabuless DE into their products to offer effective weight management benefits.”

Fabuless works by delaying digestion of palm oil droplets, due to the functionality of the oat galactolipid-coating. Because undigested fat arriving in the ileum (the latter part of the small intestine) triggers an 'appetite satisfied' signal to the brain, consumers are able to better manage their calorie intake and still feel satisfied.
