Furthermore, Frutarom will introduce EFLA®956 Pelargonium Root Extract.
Green mate is traditionally used in folk medicine for its stimulant, diuretic and appetite suppressant effects. According to official references, it can be used to support weight management and act as adjuvant in slimming regimes. Latest results from an animal trial on obese rats with Frutarom’s green mate extract Finomate™ suggest that consumption over a longer period effectively reduces body weight and visceral fat. Interestingly, health effects are not limited to body weight management. Finomate™ also positively influences biomarkers for obesity, such as blood cholesterol and free fatty acid levels. This new animal trial amends the findings of the clinical study where FinomateTM improved body composition of overweight women by reducing especially fat mass and fat percentage.
During this year’s HiE, visitors to the Frutarom stand will be able to gain in-depth insights into the latest study findings and how manufacturers of nutraceuticals and functional foods can benefit from them.
Moreover, new research data will be available on Frutarom’s patented wild green oat extract Neuravena® (EFLA®955), which has been shown to increase mental fitness and stress resistance in a recent human study.
Pelargonium Root: Latest entry to high potential markets
Frutarom will also present EFLA®956 Pelargonium Root Extract. Preparations from the roots of Pelargonium sidoides DC have traditionally been used by the South African Zulus to treat coughs, colds and sore throats. Pelargonium root extract can reduce the severity of throat, sinus and bronchial irritations and shorten the duration of the same. EFLA®956 Pelargonium Root Extract is standardized on Umckalin, a unique constituent of Pelargonium sidoides. Available as versatile powder extract without carrier and manufactured according to PIC-GMP standards, Frutarom sees an attractive potential for EFLA®956 in the growing children and adults herbal cold care market.
Beauty from within
Another highlight of the Frutarom stand will be LinumLife® with its "beauty from within" effects. LinumLife® is a standardized lignan extract from flax. Lignans are phytoestrogens which the body metabolizes into bioactive mammalian lignans that have balancing effects on hormones. This hormone balancing effect contributes to the multiple health benefits of LinumLife®.
Alongside health effects for menopause and prostate health, LinumLife® also shows effects on appearance. By regulating hormone levels, lignans can contribute to smoother skin and help reduce excess sebum excretion, particular important in cases of acne.
