The 24.269 tons of headless trout arrived at the Yangshan port in Shanghai on June 18. To ensure the smooth entry of the fish, the Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau took great care in their preparations prior to the cargo's arrival. China's new Olympic Security Work Plan helps ensure efficient quarantine inspections, identification, sampling and release of incoming produce, providing that all approval procedures and standards are met.

Tootoo.com ( http://www.tootoo.com/) was informed by the State Administration for Import - Export Commodities Inspection and Quarantine (SAIECIQ) that in order to further improve the management chain for the quality and safety of imported food, while also ensuring the security and orderly immigration of Olympic food imports, China has undertaken new entry-exit inspections that focus on the registration and administration of food imports, which is a new mandate entrusted by the State Council on Strengthening Food and Product Safety Supervision and Management of Special Provisions, as now required by China's "Food Safety Law".
In addition, as the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing has undertaken various measures to improve record keeping, detection and monitoring of imported foods and raw materials in relation to the Olympic Games. Foods considered below par will be either rejected or destroyed. Beijing will also further strengthen the supervision and management of health food, and closely monitor and crack down on all kinds of banned substances in the name of health food products ( http://www.tootoo.com/buy-healthy_food/ ). At the same time, the Olympic venues and associated destinations like hotels, tourist destinations, major streets, transportation hubs and other key areas will also be supervised and managed.
