The California Raisin Administrative Committee in the UK are pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 California Raisins Innovation Award.
Past winners have delighted us with products ranging from beer to sausages and this year is no different with a range of fabulous sandwiches.

This year we are proud to present Middlesbrough based, Brambles Foods 1st prize for their range of sandwiches containing California Raisins (see attached photo). The range included a classic Coronation Chicken with California Raisins and sunflower seeds sandwich and a Cranks Sticky Toffee Toastie, using sweet sticky toffee cheese on honey and seed bread with California Raisins. Cranks sandwiches are produced by Brambles Foods under licence.

Brambles Foods has earned a reputation as one of the leading specialist suppliers of sandwiches and salads since it was formed in 1990. The company have two sites, head office based in Middlesbrough and a production facility in London. They currently employ around 400 people between the sites. Brambles has always been seen as innovative in service and development, illustrated by multiple industry awards and repeat business from customers.

“I am delighted that we have won the award this year” says Director Guy Truman “Regular development and creativity is an essential element of the Brambles philosophy and it’s great to get recognition for all our hard work. Working with Cranks has been a real opportunity for us especially as Cranks and innovation go hand in hand”.

“The innovative approach of Brambles Foods speaks for itself” says Peter Meadows, Marketing Director of the California Raisin Administrative Committee based in London. ‘In the 5 years that the competition has been running this is the first time we have received a sandwich as an entry and it was worth the wait. Brambles Foods are deserved winners of the award, their entry was outstanding - from the presentation of the sandwiches, right through to the taste’.

Peter Meadows, Marketing Director UK Europe, says “This award is to encourage companies to look at ways to develop new and innovative ideas using California Raisins in new products and we have been delighted with all the entries received this year - which were extremely difficult to judge”
