Bakers across the UK are celebrating the success of National Doughnut Week having raised thousands of pounds for children with multiple disabilities and increased their profits at the same time.

The grand total raised by the week is yet to be announced, however for many bakers, the success of the week is already clear.

From selling limited edition doughnuts to doughnut eating competitions, bakers took part in a variety of fundraising activities to raise cash for The Children’s Trust.

One baker who is reaping the benefits of National Doughnut Week, which is sponsored by BakeMark UK, is Thompson’s Bakery in Westerhope in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Mr Thompson from Thompson’s bakery, who is celebrating an eight fold increase in sales following the event, said; “During National Doughnut Week we had a sales increase of 400 per cent and so far this week the sales have been double that. All the materials sent through made it so easy. “
“We created as many different types of doughnuts as possible throughout the week then simply watched the sales rise! I urge more bakers to take part next year because it’s all so easy and a great thing to do for both The Children’s Trust and your business”.

Another baker celebrating the rewards of National Doughnut Week is Wendy Ainsley of Townsend Bakery in Liverpool, who has participated every year since it began. Wendy said; “National Doughnut Week is great for small independent bakers. The marketing and sales material you receive is perfect to enable you to get involved in this great event. Not only does it engage the local community by raising funds for The Children’s Trust but it helps to increase products – I would recommend all craft bakers take part.”

With the help of the kind-hearted public who support this fun event, sponsored by BakeMark UK, the aim is to raise as much money as possible to go towards projects like the building of a new £7 million national rehabilitation centre for children with acquired brain injuries.
