 | | SYNERGY SUPPORTS NATURAL SALT REDUCTION | | | Synergy | | 27/05/2008 | | | Natural savoury ingredient specialist, Synergy, has launched a new addition to its Saporesse range of patented lactic yeast extracts. Saporesse Plus provides a natural solution for salt reduction in savoury applications. With fewer dairy notes, it complements the company’s original Saporesse lactic yeast extract, enabling manufacturers to create healthier, reduced-salt versions of a wide range of applications, including soups, sauces, ready meals, snack seasonings, savoury pastries and coatings.
Saporesse Plus can help manufacturers reduce the salt content of their products by up to 20 per cent. It delivers a rich savoury taste profile to build back flavour lost in the salt reduction process. By naturally enhancing taste and mouthfeel, it removes the need for artificial ingredients such as MSG and HVP and has no meaty, beer base or bitterness flavours associated with some yeast extracts.
Ciaran Lynch, new product development manager at Synergy, commented: “Many of our customers have been modifying their products to reach the FSA targets on salt content. The Saporesse range has proven to be a popular solution, as it offers significant potential for salt reduction, while maintaining depth of flavour. We developed Saporesse Plus to cater for applications that require a weaker dairy profile. It has the same potential for salt-reduction and allows manufacturers to extend the healthy options to additional product lines.”
Synergy offers complete development support to customers formulating with Saporesse Plus. With short lead times and flexible minimum orders, the company aims to make the transition to healthier products a trouble-free process. Declared as a yeast extract, Saporesse Plus complies with the clean-label trend towards additive-free foods and offers complete traceability of raw materials. Versatile and process friendly, it can be used effectively in a wide variety of dishes. | |
