 | | MARIGOT’S AQUAMIN™ PROVIDES KNEE PAIN RELIEF – STUDY | | | Marigot Ltd | | 07/04/2008 | | | New research shows Marigot’s multi-mineral ingredient, Aquamin™ may ease the pain for osteoarthritis sufferers. A randomised pilot study, published in Nutrition Journal, found that subjects treated with Aquamin demonstrate significant improvements in walking distance, pain and joint mobility.
The fifty subjects were given Aquamin (2400mg/day), glucosamine sulphate (1500mg/day), a combined glucosamine sulphate and Aquamin treatment, or placebo over 12 weeks. The individual Aquamin group demonstrated improved symptoms during the course of the trial and scored well across the board.
The overall result in terms of WOMAC, the measurement system used to evaluate the pain, stiffness and physical function in osteoarthritis sufferers, showed a significant improvement of 14.9 per cent in the Aquamin group. In the six minute walking test, the Aquamin group demonstrated an improvement of 101 feet (30.8 metres), or 7 per cent.
David O’Leary, commercial director at Marigot, said: “These results are extremely encouraging. We have shown that Aquamin merits further study in the treatment of osteoarthritis and look forward to more in-depth research in the future. We believe that in Aquamin, osteoarthritis sufferers have an all natural alternative to treat the pain and stiffness caused by the disease and afford them easier day-to-day movement.”
Aquamin is a natural, multi mineral ingredient derived from the red seaweed Lithothamnion Corallioides. Rich in calcium, magnesium and 74 other trace minerals, Aquamin can be used in a wide variety of food, beverage and dietary supplement applications. All products in the Aquamin range are 100 per cent natural and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. | |
