Richmond, the UK’s best selling sausage brand, is expanding its frozen range in time for summer with a new Jumbo sausage.

The new frozen variant is thicker and longer than the current ‘thick’ sausage, but still made to the trusted Richmond Irish recipe. Richmond Jumbo will be positioned as ideal for BBQs and as the perfect hotdog.

Richmond frozen is currently experiencing an impressive growth rate of over 6% compared to a market average decrease of 8%. Richmond represents 16% of the total frozen sausage market and is the number one brand in this area.

Richmond Senior Brand Manager, Mark Brown, comments: “The new Jumbo will offer existing consumers a wider choice and also help to attract new purchasers to the brand.”

The new product will be sold in units of eight sausages per pack (725g) with a RRP of £1.99. It will be launched in Sainsbury's and Farmfoods nationwide from mid April 2008, available in the frozen aisle.

The Richmond brand is worth £85m and is in 12% growth. Available in Thick, Thin, Skinless, Square and now Jumbo, it is the highest selling sausage brand in the UK.
