 | | GIBSONS FOODS RECOGNISED FOR EXCELLENCE | | | Gibsons Foods | | 28/02/2008 | | | Gibsons Foods, one of the UK’s largest independent chilled snack food manufacturers with sites in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and Devizes, Wiltshire, has just been awarded the accolade of two A grades by EFSIS, the independent inspection and certification service for food operational standards.
The food manufacturer, who produces own label chilled snacks for major supermarkets, convenience chains and garage forecourts, was evaluated by EFSIS inspectors against the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) Global Food Standard and was awarded the highest certification possible (grades can range from A-D).
The BRC Global Food standard is regarded as the benchmark for best practice in the global food industry and the majority of international retailers will only consider business with suppliers who have gained certification. EFSIS, who conducted the inspection at Gibsons Foods, provides retailers, manufacturers, farmers and caterers, throughout the world, with expert inspection to ensure only the highest standards are maintained.
Gibsons Foods’ Technical Manager, Chris Robinson, said: “We are dedicated to providing a superior standard of food service for our customers and continuously develop our staff, technical procedures and quality levels.
“Accreditation with A grades at both sites is a testament to the team’s hard work and commitment”.
The company achieved the high grades through its conformance with food safety and quality management systems, factory environmental standards, and product and process controls and personnel competence.
Gibsons Foods is an independent family-run business with over 300 employees supplying leading UK retailers such as Morrisons, Budgens and Shell with top quality sandwiches and salads. The company recently celebrated its 30th birthday and is now a leading player in the ‘on the go’ snacking market. It also just celebrated retaining the Investors in People standard for the eighth year running. | |
