Since its introduction in November 2006 during the IPA Show in Paris, the GENIUS 2000 has been sold beyond expectations and proves the industry’s need for state-of-the-art technology for high-volume sorting. Potato, nut and vegetable processors but also recycling companies were immediately won over by the outstanding performance and excellent reliability of the GENIUS 2000. Due to this huge success, BEST is currently extending its manufacturing facilities in Eindhoven/the Netherlands in order to be able to handle the continuously increasing demand.
The GENIUS 2000 – currently unique to the market - combines all existing advantages of the flexible GENIUS platform with a 2000mm belt width to process large capacities. Even with such a large belt width, the Genius 2000 provides the same high resolution than its smaller brothers.
GENIUS offers different inspection technologies located in several inspection zones, to provide enhanced detection efficiencies. High resolution cameras (color or monochrome), lasers and fluo-lasers can be combined with different types of illumination for one area and UV or IR lighting in the other area. IR-transmission can also be used to scan the contours of an item or to check its translucence. Products can be inspected from all sides (full surround view), on or off belt, allowing an optimal inspection on color, structure, shape and biological characteristics.
The number, type and position of the cameras, lasers and lighting depend on the product and type of defect. State-of-the-art air guns reject any defects within milliseconds thus allowing the product to proceed its way in the processing line. By doing so, GENIUS achieves unequalled sorting performance and detects the slightest shades of discolorations, foreign material or other related defects. In order to ensure continuous and persistent performance of the lasers and all other inner components, BEST’s optical boxes are hermetically sealed and nitrogen purged.
With the introduction of the new 2000mm model, the Genius is now available with four belt widths: 640, 1200, 1600 and 2000. GENIUS is totally modular and can be tailored to meet the customers’ requirements by taking into consideration their individual product(s), production capacities and budget.
