 | | WELSH SEA SALT DEBUTS ON BBC’S READY STEADY COOK | | | Halen Môn | | 19/02/2008 | | | World renowned sea salt producer Halen Môn is to enjoy a few minutes of fame when they make their TV debut on the BBC’s Ready Steady Cook hosted by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott next month.
The team from the True Taste award-winning Anglesey sea salt company provided notorious chefs Garrey Dawson and Paul Rankin with a bag of ingredients which included Halen Môn Smoked Sea Salt and other ingredients from Anglesey including Gorau Glas, a local blue cheese. The episode will be broadcast to three million viewers on 4 March 2008.
“It is important to show viewers that our sea salt is good for everyone, not just top chefs. To reach Ready Steady Cook viewers is a fantastic boost for us”, says David Lea Wilson, co-founder of Halen Môn.
The chefs, who were cooking with Angus Purden from Cash in the Attic and Dave Harper from Bargain Hunt, made a salad of leeks with back bacon and separately roasted tomatoes sprinkled with the smoked sea salt, a dressing of blue cheese from Anglesey Gorau Glas and spagattini, followed by oranges and cream with smoked sea salt mixed with cardamom.
“Ready Steady Cook showed viewers how simple dishes like roasted tomatoes can be made memorable by adding our smoked sea salt”, continues Lea-Wilson. “Hopefully it will encourage more people to try Halen Môn.”
Halen Môn sea salt is available in the following variants - pure, vanilla, oak smoked and organic spiced. It is available in 100g, 250g, 400g and 1kg tubs and has an RRP between £2.75 and £29.99 depending on size.
Current off-trade listings includes Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Harvey Nichols and over 100 of the nation’s best delicatessens, whilst in the on-trade, the sea salt is listed in a significant number of the world's top 50 restaurants. | |
