 | | FULLER’S ANNOUNCES NEW ACTIVITY AROUND THE FLORA LONDON MARATHON | | | Fuller Smith & Turner P.L.C | | 14/02/2008 | | | Race against chefs and tie-up with BBC London on official cheering stations.
London brewer Fuller Smith & Turner P.L.C. is delighted to announce some new activity around the Flora London Marathon. The brewer is in year two of a three-year agreement for London Pride to be the official beer of the Flora London Marathon.
One of the initiatives running this year is a competition between Team Fuller’s – comprising 15 Brewery employees, publicans and beer writers – and the Flora Chefs, led by Le Gavroche restaurateur Michel Roux Jr.
Fuller’s has also linked up with BBC London to provide three official cheering stations along the Marathon route. These will include a co-branded bus and can be found at the halfway point on the Highway, as well as at Marsh Plaza and Millwall Park.
The cheering station at Marsh Plaza will include an opportunity to try some London Pride and activity at Millwall Park will include a live outside broadcast from BBC Radio London, as well as sampling and a London Pride bar. London Pride supporters boards will also be available at various points around the course.
Fuller’s Beer Company managing director, John Roberts, said: “I am delighted to be increasing our involvement with this fantastic race a stage further. The Marathon is an icon of our capital city and, as London’s brewer, it is highly appropriate that we should be supporting it. The Fuller’s business is all about pride and passion, and the Marathon is a perfect reflection of these values.
“The Marathon really is a great way of highlighting the role London plays on the global stage, but it is about local people too. I hope we will see a number of London residents at our various cheering stations, spurring the runners on to the finish line. I will be there – making sure that Team Fuller’s whips the chefs into shape!”
Fuller’s agreement with the Flora London Marathon gives London Pride official beer status and the rights to use the Flora London Marathon logo on point of sale and advertising material. In addition, London Pride will be seen by millions of television viewers and spectators through several perimeter boards at the start and finish points and at key locations throughout the race and through advertising in Marathon News. London Pride will also have a presence at the pre-race expo at Docklands’ Excel Centre, where all runners have to collect their running numbers, and on the post-race kit bags. | |
