BakeMark UK is proud to announce the launch of National Doughnut Week 2008.

The leading bakery ingredients and products supplier will be offering craft bakers all over the UK the chance to increase sales, while raising money for charity.

For every doughnut sold by participating bakers during National Doughnut Week, funds are donated to The Children's Trust - a national charity, which provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs.

Last year, just over 600 bakery outlets took part, raising almost £40,000.

This year, BakeMark hopes to raise £50,000. And there are more incentives for bakers to take part than ever before!

BakeMark makes it all very simple. All bakers who register by 28th March will receive a complimentary bag of Craigmillar Doughnut Concentrate or a box of Readi-Bake Topped Ring Doughnuts to get the ball rolling. In addition, BakeMark is offering £2 off Craigmillar Doughnut Concentrate and £1 off Readi-Bake Topped Ring Doughnuts at participating wholesalers throughout May. The company will also send all participating bakers promotional posters, balloons and POS materials. A full consumer PR campaign will also be implemented, to drive consumers into store to buy.

But that's not all! For the first time, an additional incentive is being offered to all bakers taking part in National Doughnut Week. All participating bakers will be entered into a draw to win a trip for 2 to London. There, the winner will visit the Children's Trust to see how the money raised is spent, before being treated to dinner and an overnight stay in a top London hotel.

Comments Lisa Smith, Marketing Manager at BakeMark: "This is such a worthwhile cause and great fun. Last year Chris Moyles, Jonathon Ross and Terry Wogan all promoted the event so we helped make a difference to bakers' bottom lines by ensuring consumers knew about the week - and we will be aiming for high profile coverage again in 2008. It really is a simple and yet massively beneficial event to take part in - whatever size your bakery is - as we are committed to driving sales and raising more funds."

"National Doughnut Week is a great way to make a difference to the lives of disabled children and their families," adds Liz Haigh-Reeve, Director of Fundraising at The Children's Trust. "The money raised by the sale of doughnuts is used to fund specialist services, equipment and staff to help these children enjoy a better quality of life, and we are very grateful to everyone who takes part."

National Doughnut Week was first launched by Christopher Freeman of Dunn's Bakery in North London. The National Children's Trust is a registered charity and the only facility in the UK that provides specialist care needed by the most profoundly disabled children and their families.
