Fruit Up®, WILD’s natural fruit sweetener, is now available to customers as an ingredient brand. Manufacturers of food and beverages using Fruit Up® as an ingredient can now visibly state its advantages on the products.

Fruit Up® is ideal for products that are considered natural from a consumer’s perspective and contribute to a balanced diet. The natural fruit sweetener is suitable for use in sports drinks, near water drinks, as well as herbal and tea beverages. Fruit Up® also gives a full-bodied flavor to foods such as ice cream and confectionery.

To help communicate the benefits of Fruit Up® to consumers, WILD now offers the industry the use of an authorized logo that emphasizes the naturalness and low glycemic index.

Fruit sweetener with a very low glycemic index
WILD has developed the natural fruit sweetener, Fruit Up®, through the careful selection of concentrates from different fruits. In collaboration with Professor C. Jeya K. Henry and Dr Helen Lightowler of the Nutrition and Food Science Group of the School of Biological and Molecular Sciences, Oxford Brookes University, WILD performed a scientific study on the level and effect of the glycemic index of Fruit Up®. The special formulation of Fruit Up® has a very low glycemic index of below 35 due to the broad sugar spectrum with a balanced ratio of the proportions of fructose, glucose and sucrose contained in the fruit concentrate. This fruit sweetener makes a better contribution to a healthy diet than other natural sweeteners.

Healthy with a low GI diet
Current studies from the Harvard School of Public Health demonstrate that the risk of suffering from Type II Diabetes or heart failure is closely connected with the glycemic index. In 1999, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) recommended that the population in developed countries base their diets on low glycemic foods to guard against these illnesses.

A diet based on low glycemic foods has become particularly popular with health-conscious consumers in Australia. However, the trend towards products with a low glycemic index is also increasing in Great Britain and other countries of Northern Europe.

Sweetness from pure fruit
Fruit Up® is a natural fruit sweetener from pure fruit concentrates, 100 percent extracted from fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, oranges and lemons. Compared to other sweeteners, the manufacture of Fruit Up® does not involve any enzymatic treatment.
