Pink tags will be on display throughout The Kroger Co.'s (NYSE: KR) family of stores again this year as the retailer partners with vendors and suppliers to support National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

Beginning this weekend, pink tags can be found on shelves in Kroger stores across the country to identify participating products customers can purchase to support breast cancer awareness in their community. Several of Kroger's vendor partners have created special packaging to support the campaign. In addition, six Kroger employees who are breast cancer survivors will share their experiences on specially-marked Kellogg products.

Participating vendor partners include Campbell's, Coca-Cola's Powerade and Minute Maid brands, General Mills products under the Betty Crocker, Pillsbury and Green Giant labels, and Kraft products. Many of Kroger's own corporate brand items, including several products under its exclusive Private Selection line, will also have pink tags.

Kroger and its vendor partners have committed to raise $2.5 million during the campaign to support breast cancer research and awareness in communities across the country where Kroger customers and associates live and work.

"This cause is important to our customers and associates and we are honored to do our part to provide support to help educate women about early detection, diagnosis and treatment," said David B. Dillon, Kroger chairman and chief executive officer.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kroger is one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains. In 2006, the Company donated $150 million to help hunger relief efforts across the country, raise awareness of breast cancer, and support local schools and organizations in the communities it serves.
