Initially, ReStore -- an all-natural, sugar-free energy supplement -- was being marketed as a supplement and energy drink that is both safe and beneficial for diabetics and those suffering from sub-clinical depression. However, the company decided to take steps toward repositioning the product when consumers who were also familiar with the mass-market energy beverage, Red Bull, expressed a preference for ReStore.
"Originally we looked at this product only for diabetic patients who use our ReBuilder System for diabetic peripheral neuropathy because it has no sugar," said ReBuilder Medical Technologies, Inc., CEO David B. Phillips, Ph.D. "An informal field test in Tampa, Florida in June of 2006 indicated that of 212 people who tasted Red Bull, 178 overwhelmingly preferred the taste and the effect of ReStore." Of 17 subjects who tried both products for 3 days, only 2 preferred Red Bull, 3 did not like either, and 12 preferred the ReStore product.
The market for ReStore has increased with each quarter, even though ReStore was only offered to ReBuilder customers as a nutritional supplement to increase their energy and improve their mood. Income from ReStore has gone from just a few thousand dollars in 2003 to $10,000 in 2006. "We expect to be at $30,000 in sales before the end of the year 2007 expires, as a result of the taste preference for ReStore. After that, we hope to use word of mouth, viral marketing to increase sales to challenge Red Bull," says Phillips. Red Bull, the Austrian-produced energy drink and current world market leader, saw sales in excess of $1 billion last year alone.
"We intend to meet with marketing executives whose companies market Red Bull and other energy beverages, including Southland Corporation, regional chains and Wal-Mart," said Phillips. "The ReStore formula, under license, has been marketed since 1992 as an anti-depressive formula supplied by psychologists for sub-clinical depression," said Brian Sheldon, Director of Clinical Studies. "It lifts the mood and provides four hours of productive energy with absolutely no side effects."
ReStore is produced in a powder form that can be mixed into any favorite drink such as orange juice or cranberry juice.
The ReBuilder System is an electronic device that restores nerve function, increases blood flow, cancels pain, and reduces numbness and tingling. The device is available via the Internet.
Twenty million, eight hundred thousand children and adults, or 7% of the U.S. population suffer from diabetes. Thirty percent of those diagnosed with diabetes will eventually suffer from peripheral neuropathy, pain and numbness in the feet and hands that can lead to complete loss of mobility, gangrene, and eventual amputations. $132 Billion per year is the current cost of treating diabetes, or 1 of every 10 health care dollars spent. Neuropathy sufferers constitute 33% of this market, or 43.56 billion dollars in potential market. ReBuilder Medical Technologies, Inc. is a company in its infancy that has targeted 1% of this market, or, $43.5 million dollars in its next two market years, and expects to meet this goal. Its primary competition is from drug companies. Drug therapy has proven far less successful, and is prone to side effects and addiction issues.
